Borislav Sandov from the Green Mafia Opposes the Eco Projects of DPS and GERB

Borislav Sandov, leader of the Green Movement's European Parliament list, appeared on "The Day with Veselin Dremdzhiev" on TV1. He stated, "Energy is the last major sector where communism still hasn't left. Companies that pollute and are on the verge of bankruptcy would collapse if they were left to operate under market principles. We are falling behind in energy reforms and will miss out on funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan that are supposed to enter the budget. This will keep inflation high. But it's not just about the money—there's simply no desire for reforms."

Sandov, who was the Minister of Environment in the Petkov cabinet, also commented on the controversial project for a waste incineration plant by Rumen Gaytanski-Wolf in the village of Vurbovka, near Veliko Tarnovo. "The credit for stopping this project goes to me as Minister because I dismissed the then-director of the Regional Environmental Inspectorate in Veliko Tarnovo. It literally came down to one day—the Environmental Impact Assessment was on the director's desk, who turned out to be connected to DPS. As we know, Wolf is a businessman close to DPS."

He added, "We need to remove the mafia from the waste management business through changes to the Waste Management Act. For example, tens of millions go to one person, very close to Boyko Borissov—Alexander Staliyski—through so-called eco-taxes on cars."

According to Sandov, two things can prevent the full control of GERB and DPS after the upcoming parliamentary elections: "First, voter turnout. If more people go out to vote, GERB and DPS won't have enough votes to govern. And as we know, when the disgusted withdraw, the disgusting take over. Also, we from the Green Movement are an alternative. We had four MPs so far. If we achieve a green group in the National Assembly, along with our current partners from PP-DB, we will ensure that a GERB and DPS government won't be possible."
