Russia Targets New Cities in Ukraine

Russia widens the attack and targets new cities in Ukraine. The cities of Lutsk, Ivano-Frankivsk have been targeted, with Dnipro struck for the first time since the Russian invasion began. Hours after the Russian missiles struck in Dnipro, the wreckage of a shoe factory was still burning. There were clouds of acrid smoke rising from the ruins as firefighters continued dousing the flames with water. The factory’s director was wandering, dazed, through the rubble. In the meantime US president Joe Biden says the US will revoke Russia's "permanent normal trade relations" status to punish Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine. The change, which he says is being taken together with moves by US allies, will pave the way for the US to impose tariffs on a wide range of Russian goods, heightening pressure on an economy on the brink of deep recession. He says the totality of sanctions and export controls are "crushing" the Russian economy. "We’ll continue to squeeze Putin," he says, adding: "He is the aggressor, he must pay the price."
